A Brief History

Roscoe School was founded in 1917 to serve the small but growing number of residents in the community of Roscoe, California.  It began as a small one-room schoolhouse on the corner of San Fernando Road and Strathern Street.  The structure was rebuilt on its original site in recent years in order to house the Parent Center and is still affectionately known as "The Little Red Schoolhouse."

The city of Roscoe grew over the years and the school grew as well.  Numerous buildings were added on the campus and the school became an elementary school when secondary schools opened in the area that could serve the older students.

In 1948, the city of Roscoe officially changed its name to Sun Valley.  Despite the city's name change, Roscoe Elementary School chose to keep the name it had had since it first opened its doors.  Though the community has undergone many changes - including changing its name - one thing has remained the same: Roscoe Elementary School's commitment to serving our community and providing a high quality education to our students.
